Visit the seaside for these reasons
Old Blighty is a stunning place to be when the sun shines. Britain’s coastline is over 11,000 miles long, and there are no places in the country more than 70 miles from the ocean. It makes it the ideal seaside destination. Why go abroad when you have the opportunity to enjoy heat waves and beaches right at your doorstep? Here are a few reasons why you should visit a local beach:
Fantastic Beaches
We have award-winning coastlines. St Ives, Cornwall, has fresh air, a sparkling ocean, and in Bournemouth you can find 7 miles of super sand, and the warmest temperatures of water anywhere in the UK. Why not take to the water with a Day Skipper Course and visit solentboattraining.co.uk/rya-sailing-courses/rya-day-skipper-practical-sailing
Wales has Pembrokeshire, and Tenby’s iconic beachfront. Over a mile of dunes awaits you, as well as a variety of family-friendly activities. Rhossili Bay on the Gower peninsula is a beach that has won awards for its quality. It’s a great beach for surfers and beach-goers alike.
Fish and Chips
Fish and chips are a national treasure and tradition. No trip to the beach is complete without a bag of these delicious snacks. The best is done by the British – flaky, moist fish and hot, salted chunky chips. Enjoy if you can keep away the seagulls!
The Bizarre
You’ll find some of the strangest and most wonderful things in seaside towns, as well as the wonderful tourist attractions throughout the country. It’s fun to discover these oddities, like the Shell Grotto, a 70-foot-long tunnel decorated with more than 4 million shells, in patterns, symbols, and mosaics. The shells were discovered in 1835, but its origins are unknown.
